Guernsey is just plain beautiful and I fell in love with it as soon as I stepped off the plane. At times, the clear sea and sandy beaches could have you thinking that you were on the Sardinian coast. However, it was freezing!
Don’t let the sun in some of these photographs fool you! I took some long exposure shots of 15 minutes or more one evening and couldn’t feel my fingers or toes by the end. But it was worth it. Standing on the cliff top, listening to the crashing waves and watching the twinkling lights from Jersey in the distance was a magical experience. The sun turned from yellow to orange to red and eventually disappeared completely and I stood in the darkness waiting for my camera to work its long-exposure magic. The feeling of complete solitude (which you never get, living in London) was a very welcome one.
I was there visiting one of my oldest friends. We explored the island, walked for miles, had picnics on the beach, drank red wine and reminisced. Lamees, I know that I promised you some photos, so here are some of them. You look great standing on cliffs looking wistfully out to sea by the way!! 🙂 😉
